Crawling Back to You || Bianca & Drew

Somehow, they had gone from a perfectly innocent night of watching one of Bianca’s favorite movies and ways to basically torture him to her face hovering close and her eyes on his. There was a dropping in his stomach, even though she hadn’t even touched him yet, and Drew cleared his throat. The last time they kissed seemed like forever ago, but it was really less than thirty-six hours before. They had kissed while he was still with Katie, something that had not been a big deal to him but was a huge deal to her, and Bianca made sure to push him off. Now, he was broken up with Katie and they were lying together in Bianca’s room, a place that he never thought that he would see again in circumstances such as these. Still sitting in a mild state of shock, Drew closed his light eyes, waiting for the moment when Bianca’s lips would hit his. In the background, he could hear the people on the movie talking, but he was not sure what they were actually saying. His mind was only on what was happening in front of him at that very moment. Finally, he felt the vaguely familiar lips on his. They were different than Katie’s lips had been. For so long, he’d been used to kissing Katie’s soft lips, made so by Chapstick. Bianca’s lips were like velvet against his, thanks to her excessive use of lip gloss, and Drew frowned a bit when she pulled away. As if reading his mind, Bianca leaned in again and Drew kissed her back this time, turning his head when she did, her hand searing into the skin on his cheek.

After she’d gave him another small yet meaningful kiss on the corner of his mouth, Bianca pulled away. Drew looked down at the blankets and then sheepishly back up to her. It was clear that Bianca was different now—and so was he, which was why he was sure this was going to work this time around. Drew was less impulsive when it came to kissing and making out. That was one good thing that he’d learned from dating Katie. It seemed, at least to Drew, that Bianca wanted to be in it for the long run now. “Thanks for that,” he said, his hand moving to the one she had resting on his shoulder and taking her hand in his, “I wasn’t really expecting it.” There was a small silence as Drew looked at Bianca, really taking her in. He finally said what he’d been thinking during the time there was no talking, “I don’t want to get the wrong idea here…” Drew trailed off, turning his body so that he was facing her, the movie still playing the background. He lifted his other hand up to her bicep and let it slide down to her waist, “And I don’t want to rush into things. I don’t want to scare you away. I mean, you know how I feel about you. I… I just want to be us again.” Every fiber in his body was screaming at him, telling him to just go for it. But Bianca was different now, that much he knew, and with all she went through with Vince and Anson, he wanted to respect her. She deserved that much. “So, uh,” Drew gave her a small smile, “What is too much?”

A small smile crept onto her face when he thanked her for the kiss. It was kind of a funny thing for him to do but maybe it was just because no one had ever done that before. “I wasn’t either, if it makes you feel any better,” she replied and glanced up at him to give him a small smile. She felt his eyes on her so she finally looked back up at him just before he started to speak again. She readjusted a little when he did so she could face him full on as well. She listened intently and wondered where exactly he was going with this. She definitely agreed about the not rushing things bit. They’d jumped into things really quickly before and it hadn’t left them with a foundation sturdy enough for him to want to stick around when things got shaky. Still though, there was a longing inside of her—one that gave her an almost burning sensation in the pit of her stomach—that wanted nothing more than to kiss him again and to feel his skin against hers, something she hadn’t really gotten to experience before. Waiting would be a challenge though, and one she figured that would do well for both of them. “We’re still us,” she replied to his statement and she gave his hand a small squeeze. “Just.. new and improved,” she added playfully. This was definitely going to be new for them but she was never one to back down from a challenge and she knew he wasn’t either.

His question caught her off guard a bit and she decided to sit back and think about it but she couldn’t come up with an answer since she’d never been one for boundaries. Finally she gave a small shrug before she said, “To be honest, I don’t know.” A small breath escaped her lips and she gently pulled his hand more toward her lap and she used her free hand to lightly run her fingertips along his curled fingers. “I guess we can just sort of go with it and if one of us feels like we should slow down then we can,” she decided and her eyes traveled up to his to see if this suggestion would be okay with him. She let go of his hands and she pushed herself off of her bed and began to rummage through her drawers, pulling out a pair of sweats and a tank top. “I’d offer to give you clothes to change into but I don’t really have anything your size,” she said and smiled a little. She was just about to start getting undressed right there but she stopped herself. “Uhh. I’ll be right back,” she said and dismissed herself, making sure to close her door behind her in case her aunt woke up and walked by. She went into her washroom and quickly changed, brushed her teeth, washed the makeup off of her face, and pulled her bushy hair back into a ponytail. It was a strange thought, to be in front of him without makeup, but she decided it would be fine. Finally she returned back to her bedroom and she closed the door behind her. She crawled back up onto her bed and stretched out so that her head was propped up near his leg. “Is it too weird for you? Spending the night?” She asked, not wanting to make him uncomfortable in any way; especially since they seemed to have decided to wait.

“Wow, thanks,” Drew replied sarcastically, “You and Adam won’t let that go. It happened like one time.” Before Bianca could refute his statement, Drew caught her eye and grinned, “Or five, or ten.” It was no secret that Drew could be a bit of a baby when it came to scary movies. He could handle the blood and the gore but when those stupid ass serial killers or murderers hid and you didn’t know when they were going to jump out at you… Well, that scared him. Perhaps it scared him even more now, having been the prey to the predators. When he watched suspense movies, it was a little like he was being warped back to that very dark time in his life. It was just that Bianca had gone through something similar to him and seemed perfectly okay to watch horror and suspense movies. In fact, she’d stifled her laugh at him over the summer the first time he hid his face in the blanket, laughed into the blanket the second time, and completely burst into laughter the third time, making it okay for Adam to chime in. Of course, he’d promptly punched Adam in the arm but Bianca… It was just nice to hear Bianca laugh, so it wasn’t like he was embarrassed until now. As she got up to put a movie into the DVD player, Drew shifted on the bed and pushed his legs under the blankets so that he was covered waist up. Leaning back against the pillows, he smirked at her as she got into bed beside him.

It was a little like they were back to how they used to be, minus the kissing and oral and all that stuff. Just them two, getting along pretty easily, not being too conscious about what the other was doing. “A movie is cool,” he replied, grinning and remembering the times over the summer again when she would come over to hang with him and Adam. The only difference was there was no Adam but there was still the slight presence of Katie looming over their heads. Moving his body a bit so that they were slightly closer, Drew kept his eyes on the television screen in front of them as the movie began to play. Immediately, Drew knew what it was and he turned to look at her, raising his eyebrows, “Really? Texas Chainsaw Massacre?” He laughed, exhaling as if the movie was the most terrible selection that she could have made. This was the very movie that made him use the blanket as a visual shield for the first time so many months ago. As the opening credits began to roll, Drew turned back to her, looking her over until she finally looked back at him. Offering a genuine smile, Drew said, “Thanks for seeing me tonight. I couldn’t even wait until school tomorrow to see you, you know?” Gesturing to the two of them, he added, “I just miss this.”

He approved the idea of watching a movie but even still she kept the volume down low. They still had to get through the previews and the beginning credits so it wasn’t a huge deal. Once Drew realized what the movie was he made a comment and at first she wasn’t sure what the deal was but then she remembered and couldn’t stifle a laugh. Once her laughter died down a bit she looked over at him and smiled. “Well hey, look at it this way. You’ve seen it before so.. now you kinda know what’s coming,” she offered and lightly nudged his shoulder with her own. She returned her attention to the television when she saw him look over at her through her peripheral vision. He drew her gaze back to himself and she saw a genuine smile on his face—something she hadn’t seen on him since the night she’d admitted to still have feelings for him. Before that night she honestly wasn’t sure how long it’d been since she’d seen a genuine smile on the boy’s face and she couldn’t be happier that she was the one now eliciting this expression. Butterflies were set loose, fluttering about in her stomach, and she chewed on her lower lip for a moment and glanced down at the very small space between them. The first scene of the movie had started by now but she hadn’t noticed due to the low volume but mostly due to the close proximity and the feeling in her stomach.

A mild heat radiated from his body and she could feel it warming her skin before she looked back up and nodded. “I miss it too,” she replied in a quieter voice than she’d intended. Her eyes flickered down again but they didn’t go so far this time. This time they lingered on his lips. Of course it had only been a day since she’d last kissed him but she hadn’t felt good about kiss. That kiss had been stolen in a way and it’d been wrong. He was single now and though she did feel bad for Katie and her situation she couldn’t hold back anymore, not while he was this close. Large brown hues traveled back up to meet icy blues before she slowly leaned in, her lids closing halfway as she lightly brushed her lips against his. She pulled back not even half an inch before she pressed in all the way this time. Her hand traveled up to his warm cheek and she immediately felt the butterflies that were already in her stomach go into a frenzy. Her hand moved from his face into his smooth dark hair and she tilted her head to deepen their kiss. She hadn’t planned on kissing him that night but now the thought of having him stay over and not having any such contact at all seemed silly. Though she hadn’t said it out loud yet she loved him. She finally pulled out of the kiss and pressed another small kiss against the corner of his mouth before she pulled completely back. Her hand slid away from his hair and she let it rest on his shoulder as she steadied her breaths. She didn’t want their relationship to be based completely off of the physical stuff this time so she didn’t press further. Instead she waited to see what he wanted to do.

He was done, trying not to think of Katie lying back in the bed, trying not to think of how his mom was probably going to be pissed at him, trying not to think of what would happen at school. For some reason, Bianca was pretty much forcing him to think about it. Not wanting to rock the boat with Bianca so early on, Drew looked down at his hands for a moment and then back up to Bianca. He’d been around girls – Alli, Bianca, and Katie – long enough to know that these types of situations often come as a double-edged sword. If he said too much about Katie and how he felt about her being so mentally and physically sick, Bianca may think that he wasn’t over Katie and he was just using her for a thrill and for sex. This was not the case. However, if he said too little about Katie, Bianca might believe that he was some heartless guy that didn’t care about the girl that he’s with. She may believe that if she was in the hospital, he’d go off with the next chick that waltzed into his life. Drew didn’t have time to sit there and think of the lesser of two evils, so he said the first thing that came to his mind, “I’m sorry, too,” Just when he thought that it was all over and they could talk about something besides the girl that he left crying, Bianca asked another question. Drew inhaled, “Yeah, she’s going to be fine. I don’t know how long she’ll be crying and sad about this and I heard her mom and dad talking about rehab while I was there so who knows if Katie will even come back to school.”

He tried to stop from feeling thankful over Katie not returning to school and was relieved when Bianca changed the subject. She was sitting closer to him now and her familiar scent wafted up towards him, instantly taking off all the edge that talking about and being around Katie brought upon him. “Sleep over?” He asked, eyebrows rising slightly as the idea settled inside his mind. Even though he knew she wasn’t talking about sex, Drew’s mind still wandered over that way. It was just that sex had never been his first priority with Bianca. She’d definitely had him hooked after the boiler room, but they never actually did anything. They’d tried, but it was never a priority and it definitely wasn’t something that caused their break up. It had been other things and really his doing. “I’d like to. I’ll text Adam and have him cover for me with my mom.” He leaned over, pulled out his phone and sent Adam a quick text, telling him to tell his mom that he was checking in on Katie early. Setting the phone on Bianca’s nightstand, Drew turned back to Bianca, finding her hand and taking it into his own, “I know you’re worried about her and I am too. We can still be there for her and stuff. I want to be her friend because she was there for me, you know? Back then.” Drew looked away from Bianca bitterly, unable to face her because he’d left her when she needed him most. Clearing his throat, he glanced back at her, “But what did you want to do tonight? Just hang out?”

Drew didn’t seem like he wanted to talk about Katie at all and she couldn’t really blame him. She didn’t feel jealous of her in the slightest. He’d made a pretty big step just for the sake of still having feelings for her so she figured she was safe there; she was just genuinely concerned about Katie. Bianca raised her brows when he mentioned overhearing her parents talking about rehab but she didn’t think it was a bad idea at all. She’d only gotten a small glimpse of what she was like but all the signs pointed to addict. That definitely hadn’t been her first time taking the little pills and it probably wouldn’t have been her last if she hadn’t overdosed. The thoughts were beginning to bum her out so she tried to make her brain switch subjects. She glanced up at him when he returned her question almost as if he sounded unsure. She shrugged and nodded. “You don’t have to, just a suggestion,” she added in. She didn’t want him to feel obligated, and this really didn’t even mean they were automatically going to be back together. She just wanted—no, needed—the comfort of being in someone’s arms after all she’d been through. Someone who she knew cared about her, because it wasn’t often that she had that; especially since her auntie was always working and when she wasn’t she seemed to be tired of Bianca’s presence anyway.

After a few moments he finally answered and she smiled a little, relaxing a bit with his reply. She watched him while he sent a quick text Adam’s way and was taken off guard a little when he reached over and took her hand. Her brown eyes flickered up to meet his icy blues and she listened intently. He looked away but she continued to gaze directly at him. “I’m glad,” she replied and nodded a few times. “She’s going to need as much support as she can get to get through this,” she added. Bianca hadn’t realized how strong she was until a few of her friends had pointed it out. She’d basically gone through all of it alone and if at any point she wanted an out she could just beak curfew, skip school, and maybe smoke a joint and she would probably get locked up. It was way too easy, but she hadn’t done any of that. She’d worked hard to keep up with everything and now that she was excelling she found that it actually made her feel good; whereas Katie had turned to pills when she felt the pressure mount on. Bianca nodded at his question. “Yeah, hang out. We could watch a movie out of my horror collection if you want. I’ll even let you hide under my covers,” she teased lightly and gave his hand a small squeeze before she pulled away and slid off of the bed. She made her way over to her door and locked it just in case and she just grabbed a random DVD out of her collection and popped it in the player. Once everything was turned on she turned her light off and turned her bedside lamp on. She crawled up onto the bed and sat down beside Drew this time. “Anything in particular you wanna do?” She asked over the low volume in case he wasn’t cool with the movie or whatever.

torresqb:

It had been a long day, night, whatever. From sitting out in front of Degrassi, talking to the girl that he really, truly wanted to be with, to finding out that the girl he was actually with had overdosed. To going to the hospital to sit with her family that he had grown to actually, really like, to sitting beside her hospital bed, waiting for her to wake up. He’d been ushered in by Katie’s mother and father, followed in by Maya, who sat beside him. No one really wanted to talk and aside from the occasional sniff from Katie’s mother, who had finished crying what appeared to be an hour or so ago, the room was silent. The amount of time between when he got there and when she woke up was immense. In fact, Drew had enough time between the two actions to change his mind three different times. Of course, at first, he thought that there was no way that he could break up with her while she was in such a state. Katie needed him, just like he had needed her so many months ago. But then, Drew realized that what Katie did for him wasn’t something that he had to repay. It wasn’t as if Katie thought months ago that she would be needing Drew now. She did it without expecting him to ever be able to repay her. He really owed her nothing. But then he thought of how he could stay with her now and break up once she recovered. But Drew knew that overdoses weren’t exactly something that was kept on the down low, and Katie was bound to have repercussions with school. Drug use was not something that was looked highly upon by the student council or sports teams. She would surely get kicked off both. If he stayed with her, he’d be with her a long time.

So, he had come to his final decision: Drew was going to break up with Katie and be with Bianca. It didn’t matter if he broke up with her now or in a few weeks. It would still hurt her and, even though he’d thought about it, Drew didn’t want to cheat on Katie again. So kissing Bianca was cheating, but he didn’t want to cheat on Katie the way he cheated on Alli. It was just so damn hard to restrain himself when it came to Bianca. But that was all over now. He didn’t need to restrain himself; he could have her now, as long as she wanted him back. He stood in front of Bianca’s house, a part of him too nervous to even walk to the side of her house and knock on the door. Glancing down at his phone, he realized that it had been at least fifteen minutes since he told her he was on his way. The ground crunched beneath his feet as he moved around to the side of the house, looking around to make sure no lights were on in the other houses. The last thing he needed was for someone to call the police on him for ‘breaking and entering.’ Raising his fist to the window, Drew knocked, and then he heard movement from the other side of the wall. “Hey,” He grinned, pushing himself up from the ground and into the window, “Your room is like, foreign to me now. It’s good to be back.” He had half the mind to kiss her but decided against it, at least for the moment. He needed to know she still wanted him. Inhaling lightly, he ignored the tightening in his stomach that usually came with being around Bianca and moved over to her bed, sitting down, “What a day…” He moved his gaze over to her, moving his arms behind him for support as he leaned back, “So, how was your day? Your aunt didn’t try to kill you or anything, right?”

Once he was inside Bianca closed the window quietly behind him and she moved back onto the bed and sat down on the foot of it. Her eyes wandered over to him as he leaned back, supporting himself with his hands, and she smiled a little at his comment. “It hasn’t changed much I’m afraid.. But it’s good to have you back,” she replied and instantly felt relaxed. She’d been a little nervous that things would be tense between them in some way because they’d spent so long apart but it was obvious that things were going to go back to normal very quickly. A small smirk appeared on her lips at his question. Her aunt wasn’t a subject she was willing to discuss with just anyone, but this was Drew; the one boy she used to trust with almost anything. Things had changed a bit since he’d broken up with her but she still trusted him enough to talk about this with him. “Nah,” she replied simply and shrugged one shoulder. “But probably only because she doesn’t wanna do time,” she added and chuckled bitterly. “No, she just yelled a lot and basically made me feel worse than I already did. But it’s all good. I’ve gotten pretty good at bouncing back nowadays,” she added in and gave him a small smile.

She knew he was there because he’d broken up with Katie and he probably wanted some sort of answer from her, or a sign that they would be together again. She pulled her legs up underneath her, sitting Indian style on the bed, and she leaned forward a little. “I’m sorry about Katie and her family,” she said cautiously, unsure if it was okay to bring this up at the moment; but she genuinely meant what she said. Despite who he wanted to be with she knew he cared about her and she knew that he probably hadn’t enjoyed hurting her. She placed her hands on the sheets and mattress beneath her and she scooted herself forward a little, moving a little closer to him. It was strange to have him back in her room under these circumstances but she couldn’t say that she was upset with it. A small smile appeared on her face as her brown eyes took in his every detail. Still, she couldn’t get Katie off of her mind. “Is she going to be okay?” She asked him. The girl hadn’t exactly been little miss sunshine to her but she felt bad for her nonetheless. “But um.. Off of subjects you probably don’t want to talk about… Do you maybe wanna sleep over tonight?” She asked him. She wasn’t exactly up for having sex but she wanted to be in his arms again and she definitely wouldn’t mind having that last all night.
